The update of this website is still under way. A majority of the pages are complete in their first draft, a complete list of first draft pages can be seen below. I have borrowed, and credited, some pictures to use temporarily on the site. If anybody takes offence to this I will gladly remove the offending image. I will be replacing all borrowed images once the observatory is complete and set up with my own.
NOTE : PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOU HIT THE REFRESH BUTTON TO ENSURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST PAGE LOADED AND NOT A CACHED VERSION.
The aim of this site is twofold, first its a way for us to share our gallery of images with anybody that is interested and secondly it gives us a way to share any information that we have learnt from experience that may be helpful to other amatuer astronomers, and also gives us a platform to show off our observatory.
Currently the following pages are available :
Our Location page
ALL of 'The Observatory' pages
Equipment - Telescopes
Equipment - Dome & Automation System
Equipment - Mounts
Gallery - Astrophotography
Live Webcam page
Current Weather page
October 23rd - Updated the 'Current Status' page.
The remainder of the pages will be brought up over the course of the week. The pages that are currently available are not complete, they too will be revised over the next week.
Welcome to AstroDigitals!
We are located in the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina just outside of Boone, overlooking Ski Beech and Grandfather Mountain in the distance. We are still in the process of constructing a fully computer automated observatory that is scheduled to be complete sometime this month, (October 2002).
Latest News - October 2002
Our original plan when we started this project was to evolve this into a business that allowed guests to visit and make use of our facilities, (the observatory and guest house). However, at this point in time that plan remains on hold indefinitely. If we get a sufficient number of requests for such a service then that may very well change. If you would be interested in making use of our facilities, or have any comments or questions please drop us an E-Mail.
